From reading this, and will probably be "watering" the Foreman soon, I decided to look over my Recoil start to tell if I really need to be concerned about this issue. I looked at it front to back, up and down, and it doesn't even have a drain hole in the bottom that I could FEEL. So, I think that maybe putting some good grease around the area where the end of the handle of the recoil starter cord and the hole come in contact will not seal water out, but will help repel it pretty well. What do you guys think? I actually do love a recoil starter, it's helped me out lots before on my Bayou.

MudKing450S, I am getting one for my Foreman when I get it this summer. The Leak Shield will be one of my top three items that i'm getting if I keep my Outlaws from the Rancher. With all the mud and water riding I do I think it will be well worth it in the long run just incase those unexpected problems pop up. I've had to use the pull start on several of the polaris's at my work. LoL! AND had to tow a Outlander and some polaris back to the back for some reason. LoL! So I would highly recommend getting a Leak Shield just for that extra protection. Just My .02

You will not reget it. Great fix to a problem Honda needs to take care of .

What problem? Why should they take care of it? We are the ones not using our quads as specified in the user's manual. We should all be spanked!! On a side note, be sure to have an impact wrench handy and torque wrench too.

Bingo. TERRAIN French, from Old French, from Vulgar Latin *terrnum, alteration of Latin terrnum, from neuter of terrnus, of the earth. 1. An area of land; ground: climbed a tree to view the surrounding terrain. 2. A particular geographic area; a region: a guide who knows this terrain well. 3.The surface features of an area of land; topography: boots designed for rugged terrain. All terrain vehicles were pretty much ment for use on land, generally referring to the surface of it. If you choose to go deep, it's all you. Hmmm. My car doesn't have a rope starter to leak. Maybe I could drive that fender deep in something. If nothing else good comes of it, then I'll appreciate having only to seal a rope starter before driving a Foreman fender deep.

I have seen Recoil starter full of water on quads that have never seen deep mud or water above the floor boards ... My manager and lead driver walked in the office early this afternoon, both soaking wet. Apparently neither of them was fucking with the garden hose either, but it sure looked like they both could have benefited from some rain gear.

Why not? I think we need a little more smacking going on. It has been quiet dull in the Smack Talk arena for a while.

It is a good add on till they leak. Went on a camping trip in Sicilly Island and on the second day i was washing the sand off of my brakes and such and noticed it was about 1/8 full of water. Did anyone put the silicon on theirs when they put theirs on? a mechanic friend of mine said that it doesnt really make a difference. I think he also said that the silicon eats at the foam or whatever that stuff is(not sure if he did so dont quote me). Anyone else have this problem?
