Ok , the problem is on a 03 Rubicon. On the speedo D1 D2 and ESP are all flashing . When i turn it off and restart it everything is normal untill I try to drive it, it will move but will not shift in D1 OR D2, it does shift in ESP as long as you don't rev it much ,but the minute you squeeze the trottle everything flashes and its just one gear. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Sounds to me like the angle/swash plate sensor might have gone to the dogs. Take it into your dealer and have them look at it, they should be able to find out faster than anyone. Assuming they aren't a bunch of morons.

I'd take it to the dealer if it didn't require a 300 mile roundtrip and leaving it there for a week. I can replace a lot of parts for what that would cost. Do you have an example of the symptoms that a broken angle sensor would exibit? Thanks hds

Ah, 300 miles is a long trip. An angle sensor would stop the thing from shifting. It would run fine and such but would stay in one gear, because it can not measure the angle of the swash plate and adjust accordingly with a higher ratio. Call your dealer and ask them about it, I am not entirely sure. Or, go on google and search up the Hondamatic, there is a few websites on it that might help you out.

On this forum and another one I've heard that it could be the angle sensor and the speed sensor. Since I don't have all of the electronic stuff to test it completely I decieded to go with the speed sensor first. Besides not shifting right it indicates 0 on the speedometer. The speed sensor should be here Wednesday. If that don't fix it I'll do the angle sensor next, either way it will beat the drive to the dealer I'll let ya'll know what fixes it.

If you can find somebody that has a book with the codes? The comp. may be talkin to you by the number of times of what is blinking? telling you what part is bad, However you could be on to something with the speed sensor, I have had the same problem with the speedo on my 450 and it was the speed sensor.

Let us know what you find out.......If you happen to have a friendly dealer ship around and know what was flashing and how may times they may tell ya what it could be, but if there like the ones we have around here they will just look at ya and say, you will have to bring it in for us to know.

Well the main thing is you found the problem!! As far as a plug for the harness you are correct, I needed a plug awaile back and had to order the hole harness, but I did not replace the hole harness, I marked the wires and cut off the old plug, but-spliced the new plug and than put shrink tubing on each wire than taped them and put silicone around that........will se how long that will hold.

Sounds like that plug fix will work. I have a couple of connections like that on my dredge that are exposed to a lot of water. Where did you find a waterproof 3 prong connector,or did you just cover it with a sealer. The stuff I used on the connector on the dredge ,after it was together was called Marine Seal 5200, really tough stuff and you can get it at Walmart.

Well I cut off 6 inches of wire with the new molex plug off the new harness and I butt spliced 5 wires one at a time, I have not seen that 5200 stuff........I will have to check that stuff out.

EZrider, the Marine Seal 5200 is kind of permanent. If you put it over the connector you will never get it apart and would have to splice in another connector. If you put 2 pieces of wood together with this stuff the wood will splinter before the 5200 gives up. Pretty good sealer though if you don't want something to leak.
