Back in the day when I had my 450ES, the only problems I ever had were the angle sensors going out and it she wouldn't shift.

1600 miles, and the only thing to screw up is the wheel bearings. Other than that, a tough, reliable, durable bike! ;D

After I first got it, it had an annoying miss if I let it sit and idle for a few minutes after the engine had got up to operating temp. I know several other people who have had the same problem with a 450 and never could find anything wrong, but I checked mine out anyway. Well, I couldn't find anything wrong with mine either, and since it was still under warranty, I just rode it and thought I'd worry about it if it got worse. After another month or so, it quit having that miss while idling. I still don't know what caused it A couple months later I got some muddy water into the right front brake and started messing up the braking on that side. Of course I knew I should have greased the brake seals when I bought it, but I didn't. Just like I figured, mine barely had any grease on the seals and of course water just went right past the seal. I greased both sides good with Bel-Ray grease and neither side has leaked since.

Speaking of the missing, mine did that too when it was new, for about the first 300km. Surprisingly, I only had to replace the bearings once in about 9000 MILES.

Well, the only problems I have had out of mine so far are:1) Broke left front CV 2) Water and mud got in my pull cord, ruined my seal between that and the engine, and then eventually required me to have top end rebuilt 3) Wasn't just the top end, needed bottom end also and to have the case split and cleaned...so it's receiving it's second rebuild as we speak. I'm having the HL Leak Shield put on this time around so maybe it will prevent all this from happening again! Other than that I can not think of any problems I have had and I've been pretty hardcore on mine.

The only thing that ever went wrong with mine is the battery died.

Here is what i've had problems with on my Rancher 4x4... 1. Plastic Rivits keep coming out. - Just dealing with it. 2. Battery died- my fault didn't start it for a couple of months. Now a brand new battery. 3. Pull start got mud and water in it- Just dealing with it. 4. This one is the worst and that is I broke a shock this last summer. I was riding an advanced trail with some friends and something happened and it snapped in half. Buying a new one tomorrow from Honda so I can ride this sunday at the same place I broke it at. ;D. Oh well I ride it hard and I pay for it when I do. Play Big You Pay Big!!

The only problem I have with mine is that I tell my wife I'm going out for a short ride and end up limping home on RESERVE.
