I snapped my rear axle off in the trails Friday. The left rear tire just spun itself off...broke the axle off about 2" inside the tube.
I need to find an axle FAST.
Anyone have one?

First of all, I would bet that you need an axle, AND a left outer bearing, and maybe a left extension tube, if the spot where the bearing sits is buggered up at all, or if the axle did anything to deform the tube on the way out. There are exceptions, but the usual chain of events is that the bearing fails first, the bearing heats up and heats the axle, negating the heat-treating that makes it strong, the unsupported axle flexes some each time the wheel rotates which fatigues the metal after time, the axle breaks, and on the way out it "tweaks" the bearing in it's bore, deforming the bore so it won't adequately secure a new bearing. Sometimes you get lucky though, but don't order parts until you get everything apart and have a careful look. After inspection, if your local dealer has one what you'll need, they'll be the quickest by far. If nobody can get you one right off, new, used, or any other way, then you're probably out of luck. Overnighting something as heavy and more importantly as bulky as the axle will cost you. You might need a whole other checkbook. www.servicehonda.com will get you the best price I believe you'll find (even after shipping) on OEM new, and most always can ship quicker than your dealer's in house (no freight) deliveries.

Well...the axle tube looks to be very straight with no damage. We have it all apart. I'll be replacing the axle and all 4 wheel bearings (preventative maintenance). The axle broke right at the end of the axle housing tube and luckily it didn't seem to cause any other damage. The bearing was toast...and fell out in pieces of course. I should (SHOULD) be back on the trail this weekend. We'll see.
