Hi all,
Nice forum you have here.
I'm entering my 1999 Foreman 450 into our first 4 wheeler pull. Was hoping I could get some advice. Wheeler has been lifted, jetted, white brothers exhaust, 589 titans. Wheeler with me and gear wieghs 898 lbs, entering 900lb class 550cc max. Maximum drawbar height is 13 inches, the chain comes off the bottom of the skid. They say if you set the draw bar too high, you could wheelie and maybe flip? I'm just not sure if I need to be concern about that because the Foreman is pretty heavy in the front. And would it be a mistake going too high just because it will take some weight off the front tires? Any suggestions ?
Thanks Animal

Thanks for the compliment. Just to let you know before hand I don't know too much about ATV Pulls. But to answer your question I would go one notch lower, because I wouldn't risk it. Flipping a ATV stinks and I know from experience. Or you could do that and keep it high and just lean forward when your doing the pull. Kinda like riding a water wheelie just when the front end does come up if you do it just put all your weight on the front. Thats all I really know. Someone else can prolly help you more on this just wait.

Well did the pulls lastnight. I was in 4 classes, there were a total of 105 wheelers entered.
5th place in 4x4 900lb class(was first pull, I could have done better if I hammered it right away,I didnt really know what I was doing, but I hammered it for the next 3).
2nd place in 2x4 900lb class.
4th place in 2x4 1100lb open class(walked all over the 600's & 650's, the 660 & 700 did the best.
12th place in the4x4 1100lb open, 46 atv's total in this one class mostly 600cc and up, the Foreman did kick some butt.
I think it will do better next time, now that I picked up a few tips.

Good Job!! The first time doing anything is hard if you really don't know what you are doing, but after the first or second time you usually start to know what to do. Then you can really kick some butt!! Great Job!!

No money, but I did get a cool trophy for second place, it has a 4 wheeler on it.
The best advice I can give, is just hammer on the throttle right away. The first pull I tried to bring up the rpm's up slow and never got them high enough. That the one I placed 5th. After that I got better pulls by hammering the throttle right away.
I'm making some other changes as well, like taking out the back shocks and replacing with straight pipes just for pulling, that will keep the rear end from jumping. My tires are 27" Titans, they're too big and too aggressive, gonna go with 26" Bear claws or something like them. Smaller lugs that are closer together.
I'd like to get High Lifters Piston Cam Package and maybe NOS for next year. Then I'll have one bad Foreman.

I was just going to say to replace the rear shocks with straight bars. But, you know that already. I was also going to suggest bear clawys, they are GREAT for digging on hard pack.
