hey i am new to the site and hope that you all can help me figure out what is woung with my 2002 Honda Foreman 450 ES. it only shifts into R N 1. when i hit the shift up buttom it only clicks and clicks, but doesnt go into gear.

just fixed mine,it was doing the same thing.i pulled the front cover off the moter and found a bolt was loose inside not letting it shift.go to this site it has a diagram of the bolt im talking about. h**p://www.hondaforeman.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4352

its a transmission problem i dont know how much it will cost it seems like a clutch problem but it isnt my 96' 400 has the same problem i havent ordered anything yet. at the honda shop they said the gears pop out of mesh, theyres a clutch like device in the transmission that the shifter notches into then when the gas is applied putting a load on the tranny it pulls out of the notch that holds it in gear
ps. it helps to take the engine off of frame , makes it easy to spread out and work on hard gettin hands and ratchets in the frame

bah! had to take it to the dealer. $311 bucks @ $53/hr for labor. those are canadian prices. there was a bolt that backed out inside the front cover causeing it not to shift. it works awesome now, put about 250miles on it since i got it back!! happy to be riding again!! Chris
