I am going to try to buy either a used or new Foreman whenever I sell my Rancher and was just wondering what you guys and gals think what Foreman I should get? All will be modified for mud and trails, no matter which size and one I get.
Please vote or post, Thanks!!!

Go with the 450. I was practically in your exact situation, I've always liked the 450 body style. I just didn't think the Rubicon was reliable enough with the full auto and such, and then the 500, I just did not like the looks of the thing at all... still don't. There's so much information, and so many things available for the 450 that you could never go wrong with it. Plenty of power, proven reliability, good body style... so much is a plus for it.
I say go with a new or "gently used" 450.

My vote goes to the older style 450s. You'll have an endless accessory and mod. line up, enginered so they are easy to work on, proven to be as tough as an ATV can get. Good luck in your choice.

2005 Foreman is what I would go with if I were you.

I voted for the 500 because I feel that if you really wanted a 450 then you wouldnt be undecided. I bought mine in Nov could have got the 500 but as others have mentioned it has proven itself, tons of after market, and a "worker" style. I didnt want a tractor that looked like a Porsche. But these are my thoughts, they are both excellent ATV's the 500 seems so so far anyway, but you have to decide is that which ever you choose are you going to have that "what if" question to answer. The only positive thing I see is the extra cc's and tank size. I use mine to work and hunt and the only time I have ever used my brakes in when I put it in the back of my truck....so disc brakes dont mean that much to me. Keep us posted on your final decision...go test drive one or them each..see which one they cut you a better deal on. That was another reason I opted for the 450S..the price was right.

I've got (2) 04 Foreman 450S, mine & my wifes, there great, my cousin has an 04 Rubi 500, so has wife can ride it, but I don't like the auto..... felt too weird... The 04's still look tougher than the new 05's.

I was just wondering, but why doesn't anyone like the Rubicon? I kinda like it, i'll have to add a DGL and 424, but that shouldn't be too big of a problem. JW

If I were to go out and buy one today, it would probably be the Foreman 500 with the manual foot shifter. The reasons are; 1. Manual shift...no electrical stuff to worry about breaking; 2. Full time 4wd and solid rear axle......not a big independent rear susp. fan; 3. Has a handlebar mounted headlight.
Coming from riding an '88 Foreman for so long...I'm kind used to the simplicity and ease. A 500 is big enough for the type of riding I do so that helps narrow it down.

Actually, Howie, the 2005 Foremans aren't full tim 4wd. They have TraxLok (can switch in and out of 4x4). They've put that into the Foremans since 2002 I believe.

Yeah, in 2002 they added trax-Lok to the Foremans. In 1998 Honda added the ES to most of their machines. Little history for everyone! LoL!
