just purshased the high lifter spring kit for my 04 foreman. I compared front and rear with the stock ones and the front that came with the kit are tighter coils at one end of the spring. Is this right or should i send them back. If the are right are the tighter coils up or down when i install them. Check back later. Thanks

That's absolutely correct. It's quite a course in physics to explain the whole entire process, but here's the oversimplified version:
-The Foreman rides like a shopping cart from day one. -To have a higher load capacity, necessarily the new springs must have a higher spring rate. (stiffer spring). That means that in the conventional design the Foreman would then ride like a shopping cart with square front wheels. -The design of the old spring has (basically, oversimplified) one spring rate until the coils touch each other, then "bang", no more travel. -The design of the new coils allows an initial softer spring rate, but as the spring compresses slightly, more and more of the "tapered" gap between the spring closes, thus shortening the portion of the spring that can still function. -Coil springs don't "bend", but rather the coiled wire will "twist" as the spring compresses and extends. -Shortening the effective length of the working portion of the spring will therefore stiffen it significantly. -Thus, the new springs are a progressive spring (progressive as in the function, not Progressive as in the brand name), offering a variable spring rate that increases with added load or other compression. -Now, with the new heavier springs, instead of riding like a shopping cart with square front tires, your Foreman will ride like a perfectly normal shopping cart. After you "break them in" and wear out a little bit of the newness. Be ready. The first few miles (a hundred maybe?) the only suspension you'll have is the tires and the seat.

When I put mine own, I dont think I really paid attention to whether the tighter end went up or down. I hope you bought the HL Spring tool. If you didnt............ Good Luck, they are well worth the money IMO. Between them and the lift kit, I got between 2 and 4 inches more clearance.

I have thrown around the Idea of getting these or the Progressive as in the brand name. Tell me how you like them and if they lift your machine any.

Lift springs will not provide any lift , they will only raise the quad back to stock ride height and add an extra 100 lb load capacity ( per set )
Progressive shocks are an inch longer than stock shocks and have a 5 way spring pre-load adjustment .
Hope this helps you .
