Yes I think there is something about it that is different, I have had one apart and could not really under stand how it does it, but it is not near as strong as a detroit gearless locker, I put one in it and it made a big difference, mine is a 2002........some one else may shed more lite on this topic.

my brother has a foreman with the trax-loc. but it didnt really give him alot of traction so he put a gearless locker into it and he can walk with anybody.

Sorry guys--no locker in the new hondas. Trax-loc is a feature where you can run 2wd or 4wd. Thats it. The newer hondas have whats called a torque sensing front differential which uses cam followers instead of clutches in the differential. This is still what I call 3wd,but I find the torque sensing units work better than the clutched ones and you only need to run diff. oil and don't need limited slip additive like whats required in the older units with clutches. ;D

i hate that limited slip crap. my rancher does it when ever i mud ride at my camp cause our place is hilly and our mud holes are kinda on small hills and banks and everywere in between

I bought a locker and really turned my bike into a mud monster. The dgl unit is sweet and works great. If you get the money, it is the best mudding mod period..... ;D

Yup, I would also have to say the DGL is a really good mod, it seems to really work well. I really like it, and yet in a tug of war I had a 425 polaris pull me backwards with all 4 tires takin a good bite......go figure . ARRRR

that polaris was lucky to not slip its belt

In a tug-o-war,whoever gets the jump and has the right traction to weight ratio wins----period. If your tires were turning, that's all you could do. Just like drag racing---you snooze-you lose. ;D

a trick that will work is hold your breaks in and then when the other guys starts spinning lay the gas ... some may call it cheating, others call it thinking ahead

Well, I've heard a couple of different things. In the redrider, It said the new rubicon has trax-loc which i know its got. But in the ATV rider, it said its got trax-loc and a diff lock. Now im pretty sure its a typo but im just saing waht it said. Im just passin the word through. Ethan

Honda has always been about the elegence of simplicity. They are being forced to follow the market to some degree, sacrificing simplicity to appeal to the "bells and whistles" crowd, but no, they are definately not ready to lock their front differentials yet.
