Hey all I'm wondering if you can help me out. I have an 04 450es with a lift and 27" mudbugs, these tires really suck up power! I have a fmf pipe, dynojet kit and filter on order. Will these wake up this engine and will they affect reliability? My bike is not a fast bike, i think this is the nature of the bike but to get to 60 km/hr (5th gear almost right pinned) the engine becomes really loud. I'm wondering what these engines can handle, for how long? The other question I have is how do we overcome ground clearance issues with the solid axle in the rear? Hey thanks for any input you have. ;D

Foreman's defenitely aren't quick. I have run mine WFO for minutes at a time before, and I don't know if this was related, but ended up replacing my head and camshaft after about 2300 miles.
As for ground clearance, tires will make the most difference. Might also want to try the hitch lift, it couldn't hurt...

Like NO1 said tires are the only way to get more ground clearance.

u might want to look at getting a clutch kit, it want give u anymore speed but it will help u turn the bigger tires alittle easier. like they said, tires are the only way of getting ground clearance. If your worried about dragging the rear end u could make and install a axle paddle to help out when high centered.

When I was adding twin snorkels and jetting it and pipe. I went to a Honda dealer and asked about the same question for my 2002 450, they showed me in a book the rev limiter came into play at 5900 rpms I had got a small Tiny Tack to use to help me see what difference the different jets would make on top end, from what I had found, it would turn about 3200 rpms stock and after a few weeks of messing with it I had got it up to 3900 rpms wide open. (now weather or not it was showing me the ture rpms, i,m not positive, but I beleave it was.) I had got a VERY noticeable power gain That much is certin. I now have 800 miles on it and have Really ran it hard 3/4 to wide open, it won a open class mud pit comp. one year with some 700 popos and 660 or 650 Grizzs holding it wide open all it would do. I do have to ajust the valves often so I would beleave the camshaft and head replacement, but so far it is still in one peice, for how long though remains to be seen.

Thanks guys I can't wait to get the pipe etc.. on ;D Another question I have is how well do the front axles hold up with the bigger tires and increased angle a lift causes? thanks again for the info

From what I have seen, the lift can cause parts to ware, The out put shaft can be a week spot if your hard on it, I have seen 3 so far bend, all 3 had lifts, but I also ride with several that are lifted and they seem to be ok, but none of theese people turn there tires very fast in a mud hole they just crawl. as far as the front axles they can have problems to, but if your easy on it they can last for some time.
