I just tried some of the Honda Pro Air Filter Oil and Cleaner. Has any one else ever used this stuff? I am use to the traditional foam filter oil, this stuff is different. It goes on and seems to stay very tacky. I suppose I just fear change but I would like to know if any one else has anything to say about this.

I have a lot more confidence in that (and the "tacky" type in general) than I do the more "engine oily" type. I firmly believe in using what's called for in a particular filter, since the characteristics of the foam are surely considered when selecting an oil from the many types available. Not all foams are alike. The other type may work fine, but I would (and do) sleep well knowing that the right stuff is the surest bet.

Haven't use the Honda air filter oil, but I use Amsoil's airfilter oil on Amsoils powersport air filter. This stuff is very, very sticky and I very much agree with Jake. It is made that way for a reason. Haven't used the cleaner yet so can really comment on that.
I read a post (can't remember if it was here or not) that bears repeating here. It was how to properly oil an airfilter. You apply a liberal amount of oil in the center of the filter about and inche wide all the way around the filter then let the filter set. The oil will wick outward (aka upward and downward) on the filter and oil the entire filter. This will reduce the waste of the oil. You still need to wipe over the filter when done, but you won't waits as much oil.

If you're in a hurry, pour the oil in a zip lock bag (measure the recommended amount) and seal the filter in with it. Squeeze the oil all through the filter. Massage it like James massages his swolen head. ;D ;D You'll get a better than average distribution of the oil, so you can drive away right off, the mess is contained, and like you say, it'll "wick" very nicely in a very short period of time so any imperfections from the "rush" are soon eliminated.
