I want to snorkle my 2000 Foreman 400, but, right now I want to stay FAR away from rejetting the carb. Is rejetting necessary. Right now the quad is more than less stock.

It depends on the amount of air taken in after you snorkel it, comapred to that when stock. If it's more or less than what it was when stock, then you'll need to rejet. A lot of people also put these fancy, hard-to-install, really expensive, complicated air restrictors on the end of their snorkels. The common name known for it is duct tape It's trial and error...someone else might know what size to use and the specs for it.

Forgot about the Triangle Snorkit...they say you don't need to rejet if you install one of those. www.triangleatv.com

Where did you see that about the Snorkit kit not needing to be rejetted. On the website, it states that the 400 will need to be rejetted. However, I am going to use 1.5" or 1.25" to do some testing with tomorrow, before I use PVC. Maybe I'll get lucky and not have to do anything but "bolt on"

I didn't know the 400 had to be rejetted also...I knew the 450 didn't. I don't guess I should have assumed...sorry bout that.

Its all good, didnt mean to sound like a smart a**. ;D, but here is what I am goingto do. Like I said earlier, I am going to attempt to use tubing that is in the same diameter as the stock snorkel, and just attempt an extension of the stock snorkel. Hopefully this will work fine, and if it does, I'll be in business. On another forum, some posters did not think this would work, but, I am going to give it a try anyway.

We don't advertise that the 400 will run without rejetting after installing the Snorkit. We didn't feel like we had enough testing on the 400 to make that statement. Several customers with 400's have told us that they have not rejetted with the Snorkit. With that in mind I'd say that you're probably OK with the stock jetting. A simple needle adjustment should do the trick. Although, I can't promise anything.
We don't make promises or comment on subjects in which we have doubts. People rely on our statements and instructions and we try to make sure that they are 100% accurate.
Thanks for the interest! Brad

Well I can tell you this much. I currently run a 2" snorkel on my 2003 Honda 450 Foreman that is reduced down to 1-1/2" to go into the stock airbox. I bought the Dyno Jet Kit, K&N Air filter, and HMF Muffler and I was getting alot of popping out of the muffler during a hard take off. The reason you will get the popping is from to much air flow. With these mods, the airflow is less resricted which means more air to fuel ratio. If you look at the stock snorkel you can see why. The opening is alot smaller. The cheap way of correcting this is to put a sock on the end of your snorkel. Looks cheesy but works. With the sock on the end of the snorkel it resrticts the ait flow. But what I did and actually gives you even more power is when you order your dynojet kit, order a DJ-142 jet and use this jet instead of the one that is in the instructions. Follow the rest of the instructions in the dyno jet kit. Jet only runs about $5 more. This jet will allow more fuel in the engine and evens out the air to fuel ratio and stops the popping and increase the horse power to the point where I am now able to hit the rev-limiter from 1st gear to 4th. I currently have 26" Outlaws. The 5th gear tops out at approx 55mph. Before I was only able to get to about 46mph in 5th. Hope this helps!!! ;D

Well I have hurd of several 450s with a 142 dj, it may depend on how the snorkel is ran and the size, I have 2 snorkels one out each side of the air box and I have a 146 dj with a K/N and no pre filter, 2 washers under the needle clip and a pipe, runs a touch bit rich ilding around but 1/2 to wide open the plug burns nice and brown.
