No it wouldn't hurt. In fact it would be a very, very good idea. The sooner you clean the metal filings from your engine and differentials the better it is gonna be in the long run. I changed mine out at 5hrs and then at the 10hr (10hr was reccomended by honda on my bike). At the 10hr change I would also recommend going to a synthetic oil. Your bike will love you for it. If you decide to go with Amsoil, let me know and I'll get you the part # you will need to order.
IMHO, pay a little now, or pay alot later.

TRHOD - I see from your avatar you're also a V-twin fan. Looks like a Heritage Softail, but it's hard to tell in the pic. I ride an HD FXR3 (CVO bike) and here's a pic:

Ksims, Yes sir, love the V-twin. It is a Honda VTX 1300 Retro. I love riding this bike ;D ;D I recently went thru a divorce and if it weren't for my bike and the Good Lord above, I don't think I would have survived. But I think I have won this battle. I may have got my clock cleaned by the X-wife, but I've got a little hunney now who loves me and loves to ride with me on my bike. We are planning a trip to Sturgis this year. Don't get much better than that ;)You've got a very nice ride there, hope you've got someone to share the ride with. Here is a little better picture of mine: Here is a picture of my new tins my nephew just finished painting as a final project for school. He did an awesome job, especially for his first time. Can't wait to get them on the bike. Too cold right now. The camera doesn't do this paint job justice. It is a 7 phase flip-flip paintjob with ghost flames. Keep the shiney side up, brother. TRHOD
