Has any body tryed using synthetic Grease? I was at a bearing shop today buying some bearings and noticed a tube of synthetic grease on the shelf. I opened it up, it kinda looked like clear silicone, very thick, very smooth texture, To feel it, it felt like it may be some good grease. And it covered a wide range of applacations.

I switched to Amsoil grease about 4 month at the same time I switched all my engine oils to Amsoil synthetic. I believe so much in the products they sale, that I decided to become a dealer. I could probably fine all kinds of lab info showing statistical info about how good this stuff is. But you said it best, "this stuff is thick, very smooth and it does cover a wide range of applications." Above and beyond the physical charicteristics are is ability to withstand heat (doesn't degrade due to thermal breakdown) and water (doesn't breakdown when subjected to water). These are 2 very important facts that many times we don't think about our grease.
If you want me to try and find literature about it let me know, or if you are interested in looking into Amsoil products take a look at my website (link located in my signiture of each post). Hope this helps, and if i can do anything else for you , let me know. TRHOD

Thanks for the info TRHOD, I have not yet tryed amsoil, but seem to always hear good things about. At this time and for the past 2 years I have been trying out a grease called swepco, I have 5 different types of it. I ran into a man eating lunch one day that sold this grease, and he runs around several different states to all kinds of manufactures that have bearing failures, sends info to a laboratory and they try to make a grease to fit there needs. My needs were mud, water, seals and bearings, out of the 5 I did find one that made a large difference in the front seals on my 450, seemed to hang in there quite well. I have rubbed my hands full of it put them in a bucket of water could not rub any off or even get a oiley film in the water, but i,m always open to trying something new, how much is a tube of amsoil synthetic grease?

I haven't seen any head to head stats between the Bel-ray and Amsoil grease. Amsoil's published information seems to highlight there advantages in the engine oil and gear lubrication markets. Not much info on the grease as far as comparative studies. IMHO this is because the engine oil and gear lube market is there bread and butter markets right now. In time we may see some grease studies. again, IMHO Amsoil is not going to put their name on a product unless is of the highest quality. Here is some info about the Amsoil grease: www.amsoil.com/products/gwr.htmlPosted by: Ezrider Posted on: Jan 5th, 2005, 11:37pm Thanks for the info TRHOD, I have not yet tryed amsoil, but seem to always hear good things about. I would be interested to hear your feedback on a comparison of the (2) different greases, Amsoil vs what you are using. Let me know. Here is a handy link you can use to find out any Amsoil product you might need for a variety of purposes: www.amsoil.com/products.htmHope this info helps you out. Let me know if not. TRHOD
