I'm doing a fair amount of plowing with my new Foreman ES and of course doing a lot of backing up. Is there any way to make going into reverse any easier than going through the 3 step approach? I don't mind hitting the R button and then down shifting but pulling the leaver get old.
Thanks
Jon

2 years ago I put 2 med. size zip ties below the red button around the cable never touched the red button since. I pulled the black rubber boot back pushed the red button and pulled the lever which in turn exposed some of the rev cable and put 2 zip ties around it. I also noticed on mine that it will not go into rev when moving forward.

If you find that second cable, follow it for a few inches, you'll find an adjusting sleeve. Unscrew (lengthen) the adjuster until you don't need the button.

If you find that second cable, follow it for a few inches, you'll find an adjusting sleeve. Unscrew (lengthen) the adjuster until you don't need the button. By doing this do you still have to squeeze the level to get it into reverse or do you just down shift into reverse ?

If memory serves (and and if I'm not confused with another model) there is an electric switch on the hand brake that will still require you to pull it in just a bit, but not a full 'squeeze', just enough to get the lever out of it's seat to enable the electric shifter mechanism. The red button, the associated cable, and it's adjuster are purely the mechanical "block" mechanism.

For me on my 2002 modle the 2 zip ties took care of ever touching anything, just stop and go right into rev.

plowboy, i have access to the this thing called The Backstop it allows you to go from netural to reverse without pushing the red button or pulling the handle, installs and uninstalls (back to normal you have to push button and pull handle) in about 5 seconds without any adjustments or zip ties that you can't undo in a hurry if you let a friend or family ride you atv, will fit all model Honda's with the red reverse button back to mid 80's it's the best thing since Honda, every one loves them and they are free yes free just a little to cover shipping & handling drop me an email for details

Yes anyone and it's a lot safer than than any other way of doing this mod, some people actualy destroy that little red button for no reason the Backstop is the only simpel fix, i keep one in my pocket incase i ride another atv that dont have one i dont have to push that button and pull that handle and then put back in my pocket when i get off
